Born into a family of Rastafari and reared in the culture in Trelawny, Jamaica, I-Will’s lyrics are a blend of Rastafari livity and consciousness with world vision, accented by his deep baritone, often compared to that of the late great Dennis Brown. Formerly known as Shaggie Williams, I-Will has toured Europe with Mykal Rose and Frankie Paul and has toured the US with Sugar Minott, impacting the press to receive sub- stantial reviews throughout the eastern and midwestern states. Prior to these tours, I-Will, as Shaggie Williams, spent three years in South America signed with BMG Argentina. While there, he voiced a number one hit with well known South American band, Los Pericos, and shared the stage with the most famous South American artists. His large scale exposure and regular TV appearances developed the singer’s performances and public poise. With the steadily playing tune on Rootial Music’s GrassRoots Riddim, “Love Potion,” I-Will has now established himself as a strength within the Jamaican reggae scene.
